and experience drives Architexture

Architexture is a residential design firm established in 2002 by Joel R.M. Gagnon, principal designer. The firm’s mission is to bring function and beauty to your home through clever design, attention to detail and sensitivity to your specific needs and desires—all while delivering extraordinary value with a conscientious focus on your budget.

As a student, teaching assistant and lecturer at The Catholic University of America’s School of Architecture and Planning, Joel rose to the top of his class excelling at design, presentation drawing, construction documentation and research. In his junior year he was awarded the Peterson Prize for his documentation of Philadelphia Row on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The prize-winning drawings are housed in the Historical American Building Survey (HABS) collection at the National Archive Building.

Returning to New England, Joel focused on residential design, specializing in the preservation of and reinterpretation of historical styles. His hand-drawn designs for additions and new homes reflect many American home styles with an affinity for natural materials and period details. After interning in local architectural firms, Joel received an Unrestricted Construction Supervisor License and became state certified as a Local Building Inspector in the City of Haverhill, Massachusetts from 2000 to 2002. Following his two years in building code and zoning enforcement, Architexture was established. In 2007 Joel was accepted as a Professional Member of the American Institute of Building Design.

Architexture offers a broad range of residential designs including new homes, additions, historical restoration and preservation, accessory structures, curb appeal facelifts, landscape design and interior millwork design.
